A battery storage system easily costs over a million euros, and only pays for itself after years. With Bnewable's Battery-as-a-Service model, we take on the full investment. You only provide the space and grid connection, so your capital can go into your core business instead.
If you bought a battery storage system yourself, you'd need to build up internal expertise, and carry the technical and financial risk: outages, maintenance, planning errors. As the owner of your battery, we handle everything, from planning and permits to installation and integration into your existing infrastructure, through to operation, trading, and maintenance. Your day-to-day business runs undisturbed throughout.
When the battery reduces your peak demand or optimizes your self-consumption, you save on energy costs directly, independent of your existing electricity supply contract or provider. In return, you pay Bnewable a usage fee that's always smaller than your savings. When you don't need the battery storage system yourself, we trade on the energy market on your behalf, and you receive a share of the revenue. This way, you earn from your battery even when you're not using it.

A battery storage system that virtually expands the grid connection for larger electrification projects starts at 2 MW capacity and €1.2 million investment. If you use it to charge your electric truck fleet, charging windows are usually limited to 2 hours on workdays. Bnewable sizes it on your own data. The analysis uses your quarter-hour consumption, the shape and height of your load peaks, any on-site generation, and the capacity of your grid connection. From that, Bnewable models how much power and how much stored energy the site can actually use, and what each option returns. You see the case before anything is committed.
Yes, your new sites run as new projects, each with its own sizing study, and the operating platform stays the same across all of them. If your load grows on a site that already has a battery storage system, the sizing study incorporates your stated future plans alongside your current profile. Share your expected additions and timeline with us, and we'll take them into account.
Yes. Bnewable is a Balancing Responsible Party and holds no supply license, so we have no interest in which supplier you use. Your existing contract stays in place, along with your hedging and your clicking strategy. Bnewable has a settlement process running with most Belgian suppliers that separates the battery storage system's activity from your normal offtake, and we arrange that with your supplier directly.
